2013 Acura RDX Review

Posted by Edo Suseno Kamis, 02 Agustus 2012 0 komentar
2013 Acura RDX Review - The 2013 Acura RDX introduces the second generation of Acura's smallest SUV. RDX is all-new for 2013, a little bit bigger and heavier than before, while being considerably more powerful, nearly as nimble, and significantly more fuel-efficient. It's a win-win-win deal.

2013 Acura RDX Review

The 2013 Acura RDX features a new 3.5-liter V6 engine making 273 horsepower (up from 240), and a 6-speed manual automatic transmission (up from a 5-speed), both so smooth they feel flawless. Fuel mileage is an EPA-rated 20/28 mpg City/Highway, for an EPA Combined 23 miles per gallon with front-wheel drive.
A new all-wheel-drive system is available, simpler and lighter than Acura's SH-AWD in other models, designed for fuel mileage. In about 400 miles of driving in our RDX AWD, mostly at 72 mph on the freeway but with some hilly city runs, we averaged 21.6 mpg. The EPA rates the 2013 RDX AWD at 19/27 mpg.
The sheetmetal has been reshaped for 2013 to be sleek and aerodynamic, looking more like the larger Acura MDX. The hood is longer and sculpted than before, the grille tidier, sides cleaner, and roofline way more elegant. The wheelbase is 1.4 inches longer and the track widened a bit, and handling remains taut and precise. The center of gravity is lower despite the roof being 1 inch higher, and there's electronic power steering replacing hydraulic.

The suspension has been thoroughly redesigned on the 2013 RDX, with 18-inch wheels standard. Acura engineers in Japan worked hard to make the 2013 RDX ride and handle well, and it does, maybe even better than the smaller and sportier 2012 RDX. The steering technology breaks new ground, with what Acura calls Motion Adaptive Electric Power Steering, which goes to the next step beyond speed-sensitive power steering, by increasing or reducing the amount of effort needed to turn the wheel in either direction, based on the same sort of traction measurements that stability-control sensors receive; by instantaneously weighting the steering wheel, it makes it harder for the driver to over-correct.

The suspension also features something called Amplitude Reactive Dampers, sophisticated shock absorbers designed to offer the best of all worlds. They got most of the worlds, but the dampers transmitted too many sharp bumps to our spine. These things can be tuned out, so it's possible that this flaw might vanish in later 2013s, you never know.

The new interior has sweeping lines and uses rich materials. It's very quiet in the cabin; over harsh freeway surfaces in particular, you can't hear the tire buzz thanks to more sound-deadening materials. The door openings are large, and the rear seats fold down with one touch. Leather is standard, along with heated front seats, power moonroof, 360-watt audio system, and rearview camera. A Technology Package has all the tricks, including a power liftgate and HID headlamps.

Competitors for the Acura RDX include the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class.

2013 Acura ILX Concept Review

Posted by Edo Suseno Selasa, 24 April 2012 0 komentar
2013 Acura ILX Concept ReviewAcura is still readying the ILX, which will fill the entry-level slot in the luxury brand’s lineup. (It is for now a concept, but per Acura/Honda practice, this is very close to the vehicle that will go on sale this spring.) As we mentioned last month when we first reported on the car, virtually every premium brand is busy preparing smaller models that appeal on efficiency and affordability as much as they do luxury.
And so it’s not particularly shocking that this premium compact will be available with a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, likely closely related to the setup found under the hood of the current Honda Civic hybrid. That will make it the first hybrid vehicle to wear an Acura badge. A 2.4-liter inline-four and six-speed-manual combo is slated for duty in the "high-performance ILX," a powertrain that sounds suspiciously like that found in the current Civic Si. Expect most ILX buyers to stick with the basic engine and transmission, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder mated to a conventional automatic transmission.
Spot the Difference
If you’re wondering why this Acura borrows so much of its underhood tech from the Honda Civic, it’s because it shares basic underpinnings with that bestselling compact. But Acura is quick to point out that the two cars share few hard points, and a walk-around of the ILX concept shows the subtle efforts its (re)designers made to hide its humble econo-car roots. Some were successful, others not so much.
The profile view reveals a trunklid that kicks up higher and carries more visual weight, taillights that are more rectangular and wrap farther around the corner from tail to side panel, and a steeper cut line where sheetmetal meets the plastic rear bumper.
The door handles on the ILX concept have been creased and shaped into a form that looks vaguely inspired by medieval weaponry, and the character line that intersects the front and rear door-handle depressions on the Honda kicks up above the rear door handle on the Acura. The lower crease that runs between the wheel wells is more pronounced, and the lower sills are more aggressive. From the front, you don't have to squint too hard to make out the Civic bloodlines, but the Acura face is present and accounted for. There’s also a sharper break between the hood and fender, deeper set headlamps, and no lower grille. The concept rides on 19-inch wheels. Details on the cabin are scarce at this point, but keyless entry and start, and Acura’s various technology packages are said to be on offer.
Back Home Again in Indiana
When production for the actual Acura ILX spools up in earnest, each and every one will be manufactured at Honda's Greensburg, Indiana, plant. This latest round of entry-level luxury models has us wondering how much of a premium people are willing to pay for what are essentially gussied-up versions of lesser models; a sticker of "well below $30,000" has been promised. Acura hasn't released any details on what if any of the car’s dirty bits have been upgraded from Civic duty, which may be an important part of the value puzzle here. But with so many compacts from “regular” brands available with scads of uplevel features—among them the Ford Focus, new Dodge Dart, and Hyundai Elantra—Acura and its luxury brethren will have to think long and hard about the prices of their new babies if they hope to move them in meaningful amounts. View Photo Gallery

2013 Acura ILX Reviews Specs and Prices, Harga Acura ILX 2013

2013 Acura ILX Reviews Specs and Prices, Harga Acura ILX 2013 - A quarter century after it became the first standalone Japanese luxury brand, Acura is looking for ways to pump some adrenaline into an expanded line-up. It came to the January 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit with an assortment of new offerings covering everything from supercars to sport-utes though, arguably, the low-key ILX sedan could be the most important new offering the brand has come up with in quite some time.

The 2013 Acura ILX goes on sale this April.

The challenge is to capitalize on the brand to conquest buyers who have been migrating to the competition, suggests Acura sales chief Jeff Conrad. Nowhere is a new offering more critical than in the entry-luxury, or compact luxury sedan, segment that has long been dominated by the BMW 3 Series.

If the overall look is familiar that's no surprise, as the new Acura ILX is based on the sibling Honda brand's familiar Civic, which itself was updated for the 2012 model year. Acura's approach is to deliver a more upscale and refined sedan than the Civic, but one that errs on the conservative side when it comes to styling.

Nonetheless, the look is handsome and modern, with a coupe-like roof and a sweeping character line that runs the length of the body, both echoing, if not breaking out from, current industry trends.

The most conservative element in the design is probably the change most welcome, Acura downsizing the shield grille that it adopted as its visual signature a few years back. That cartoon-like element resonated with some but alienated others. It is now more balanced and proportioned and will likely signal how Acura treats other models to follow.

Acura said it wants to position ILX as an entry-luxury sedan. The brand once had a well-respected model that used to do that quite well, the old Integra, which brought of lot of first-time buyers into Acura showrooms. That era ended. With the ILX, Acura hopes to regain that old magic.

The 2013 ILX will be loaded with technology, including Bluetooth hands-free calling and wireless audio, app-based infotainment, which can let such services as Pandora be played through the car's audio system, and voice-controlled text messaging. (However, it'll limit a driver to choosing from a handful of pre-set responses to incoming messages.)

The Acura ILX will serve as a platform for the Acura brand's first hybrid offering. The ILX hybrid will feature a specially tuned 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a compact electric motor, both linked through a continuously variable transmission, or CVT.

That's in addition to two traditional powertrain offerings, a base-level 2.0-liter inline-4, as well as a high-performance 2.4-liter I4 paired with a 6-speed manual.

Harga Acura ILX 2013
The upcoming Acura ILX will enter a luxury market segment crowded with plenty of other, better-established products, never mind an array of mainstream products, including the new Dodge Dart, as well as the redesigned Civic. The high-tech features will certainly be a draw but final pricing could make all the difference between a hit and an also-ran. We've heard the ILX will be priced "well below" $30,000. We're hoping that means it will start for less than $29,900. Older Post : 2012 Acura TSX Reviews Specs and Prices and 2012 Acura TL Review and Price

Harga Acura TSX, 2012 Acura TSX Reviews Specs and Prices - The 2012 Acura TSX ranks 4 out of 9 Upscale Small Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 57 published reviews and test drives of the Acura TSX, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

2012 Acura TSX
The 2012 Acura TSX is one of few upscale small cars with the right blend of performance and utility to create a sedan that’s a smart choice for families.

The upscale small car class isn’t large, which means that shoppers looking for a luxurious family vehicle don’t have many options. This class is known for its performance, rather than its utility. The 2012 Acura TSX, however, is one of few that offers a good balance of both, and as a result, the 2012 TSX is our Best Upscale Small Car for Families. In the TSX, parents will find great front seat space, a large trunk and a second row that is ideal for children. If you have teens or carpool to work, the second row may not suit you, however, because it is tight for adults. The TSX's good safety scores should also give parents peace of mind as they drive around town with their kids in tow.

Paired with one of the most family-oriented interiors in the class is what some reviewers consider a boring four-cylinder engine and great-performing optional V6. Parents who want the most bang for their buck may prefer the base engine. Not only is it less expensive than the V6 model, but it also has higher fuel economy ratings, which means you’ll save even more money in the long run.

The 2012 Acura TSX isn’t perfect, but reviewers find that it meshes practicality and performance well, making it a solid pick for families or anyone looking for an upscale sedan.

Harga 2012 Acura TL, 2012 Acura TL Review and Price

Harga 2012 Acura TL, 2012 Acura TL Review and Price - The 2012 Acura TL, styled in Acura's Design Studio, in Torrance, California, continues a long Acura tradition of being outspoken, iconoclastic and polarizing. Many will find the TL distinctive and self-defined, while others will find it lacking in gracefulness.

2012 Acura TL
As the luxury division of Honda Motors, Acura has a high pedigree in advanced, efficient design. And with the continued evolution of its versatile TL line of sedans, Acura delivers a car that will satisfy a broad range of driver demands.

We found the 2012 Acura TL has strong performance and sumptuous creature comforts. Front-wheel drive is standard, but the Acura TL SH-AWD features all-weather all-wheel drive. Packaged in edgy, controversial styling, the fresh looks of the 2012 TL will please many and confuse many others.

The 2012 Acura TL offers two engine packages: The TL comes with a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 that generates 254 pound-feet of torque at 5000 rpm and front-wheel drive. The TL SH-AWD gets a 305-hp 3.7-liter V6 that produces 273 lb/ft of torque at 5000 rpm for higher-performance.

The 2012 Acura TL 3.5-liter delivers EPA mileage figures of 20/29 mpg, quite good for a car with serious credentials in the near-luxury field. The 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD with its 3.7-liter and all-wheel drive when equipped with the automatic transmission is rated 18/26 mpg, while the 3.7 all-wheel drive with manual transmission, the quickest version, gets EPA figures of 17/25 mpg.

Keeping pace with the competition, the 2012 TL offers a new sequential 6-speed transmission with paddle shifters in both versions, as well as the 6-speed manual in the fast TL SH-AWD 6MT. Electronic steering is standard, as is drive-by-wire throttle control. The Acura TL features a comprehensive list of technological conveniences. Its eight-inch screen offers voice-recognition navigation. AcuraLink provides direct satellite connection with Acura's roadside assistance as well as real-time traffic information and rerouting, real-time weather with radar-image maps, alerts for severe weather and full weather forecasts. All the usual electronics are present, including satellite radio, Bluetooth audio, hands-free phone link, a hard-disc drive for storage of 3,500 songs, speed-sensitive volume and more. Similarly, the TL is well equipped with all the contemporary active and passive safety features, and its interior appointments will satisfy those looking for deluxe accommodations. The front two seats have individual climate controls, and the driver's seat offers 10-way adjustability (including two-way lumbar support). The passenger seat has eight-way adjustability. Elegant leather upholstery and supportive, finely bolstered seats produce a secure, comfortable environment.

One of the most compelling arguments for the Acura TL is price. Following established Acura/Honda marketing practices, instead of starting with a low stripper base-model price, then offering a broad array of extra-cost additional features, Acura offers fully equipped cars packed with all the most attractive features. Our 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD Advance test car was a perfect example. It contained all the basic equipment, plus the bundled Tech Package and Advance Package, for just a tick below $46,000. And as we got to know the TL, we discovered it had the crisp precision of a medical instrument. Like a medical instrument, however, for some, this car will feel a little short on the automotive abstracts, verve, charisma, charm. It is superbly engineered, and when driven hard, it will accomplish a great deal. Yet some TL competitors, the BMW 3 Series and 5 Series, Audi A4 and A6, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class, effortlessly elicit a warm smile. But the TL styling, which is to some, awkward and heavy-handed, will command little more than a short nod.

The 2012 Acura TL features a redesigned front bumper with improved aerodynamics, a revised grille, updated headlights and turn signals, a new fog light design and a shorter front overhang. The rear features updated taillights and a new bumper that repositions the license plate.
